Abstract
Combination sequences have long been used successfully for ranging applications, but very little attempt has been made to determine their performance in a multiple access environment. Well known bounds are used to evaluate the probability that either the total cross correlation or the partial cross correlation exceeds a given value; and it is demonstrated that when a relatively small number of users are in need of long but rapidly acquirable codes, combination sequences are an attractive choice.
