Abstract :
Surface-acoustic-wave oscillators have now been developed offering fundamental frequencies from 30 to 1500 MHz. Integration of the SAW chip into a compatible hybrid package has enabled the realisation of a low-cost, compact and rugged oscillator ideal for incorporation into frequency synthesisers on RF and microwave transceivers. In addition, the potential for fast switching < 10 ¿¿s can be realised with the incorporation of a TTL compatible PIN-diode switch.
