Abstract :
An optical ring network based on optical frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and add/drop multiplexers (ADMs) that use fiber Fabry-Perot (FFP) filters and optical circulators is proposed for a logical star network. In order to verify the feasibility of the ring network, 100-GHz-spaced, three-channel intensity-modulated direct detection (IM-DD) transmission is demonstrated at a bit rate of 622 Mb/s. Taking interchannel crosstalk into account, the maximum number of nodes is estimated to be 30 if the FFP filters have a finesse of 100.<>
