Abstract :
To provide information on the relative merits of several methods of gamma correction, three different forms of the NTSC color television system are examined with respect to their ability to reproduce luminance detail. The best system in this respect seems to be one which uses a luminance-corrector in the transmitter, but this system is inferior to the EY1/¿ system in several other respects. The EY1 system seems to be the poorest of the three.
