  • Abstract
    The discovery of the copper-oxide-based high transition temperature superconductors is reviewed, and their properties are described. The structure of one of the families of these compounds, the yttrium barium copper oxides, is examined. The fabrication of thin films of high-Tc superconductors is discussed.
