Abstract
An iterative technique is presented for the splitting of a complex-coefficient polynomial into two lower-degree polynomial factors, one being the paraconjugate of the other. Unlike more usual procedures, the previous calculation of the roots of the initial polynomial is not required, making the splitting technique a faster process, readily implemented as a computer program. A typical application comprises the calculation of the reflection coefficient of a lossless network from its transmission coefficient. A numerical example is given.
