Abstract :
The characteristics of superconducting magnets designed for the proton-ring arcs of the Hadron Electron Ring Accelerator (HERA) in construction at DESY are summarized. Dipoles, quadrupoles, and beam-pipe correction coils under construction by various international firms are discussed. The superconducting dipoles (4.68-T central field, 8.824-m magnetic length) as well as the superconducting quadrupoles (91.2-T/m central gradient, 1.861-m magnetic length) are of the cold bore, cold yoke type. Prototype and series production considerations are briefly noted.
