Abstract :
A semianalytical expression for recording head field approximation has been derived. The proposed formulas combine the exactness of a numerical description of the field strength in the head gap vicinity with the compactness and more suggestive form of its analytical expression. The constraints of the head field equation can be calculated from a polynomial approximation of the longitudinal field strength at zero distance from the front of the head. As an example, a comparison between the head field distributions for a ferrite head derived from the semianalytical solution and directly computed by the finite difference method is given
