Abstract :
Degree of acceptance to a home automation network by the consumers depends greatly on how easy it is to use. Plug-and-play is a good way. In this paper, a home automation network which has a five-layer protocol, appliance profiles, and a hand-held remote controller to support PnP is proposed. Its five-layer protocol model is discussed, the detailed specification of the three layers supporting PnP is presented, and an example is given to demonstrate how PnP works.
