Abstract :
Rational transfer functions with the only zero at s→ ∞ (all pole) are sought so that they best approximate an ideal delay exp(--sT) in the time domain. For systems up to the 5th order the integral square error is found analytically and is then minimised using a digital computer. The resulting functions and their characteristics are summarised.
