Abstract
There are four awards for which EMBS members are eligible. All members of EMBS are encouraged to nominate qualified individuals. For further information, please contact EMBS Awards Committee Chairman, Andy Szeto/Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering/ College of Engineering/San Diego State University/San Diego, CA 921821(714) 265-5718. 1. CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD This award is to recognize a person who has had a distinguished career of 20 years or more in the field of biomedical engineering, either as an educator, researcher, designer, developer, or administrator. Any past or present member of IEEE and EMBS who has not been a voting AD COM officer for a minimum of 2 years is eligible. 2. EARLY CAREER AWARD This award is given to a person, who within 10 years of completing his highest degree at the time of nomination, has made significant contributions to the field of biomedical engineering evidenced by innovative research, design, product development, patents and/or publications. 3. OUTSTANDING CONFERENCE PAPER This annual award serves to recognize an author or authors of the outstanding paper delivered at the Annual EMBS Conference. 4. BEST TRANSACTIONS PAPER This annual award recognizes the best paper that appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering during the past calendar year.
