Abstract :
A history is given of the IRE Professional Group on Medical Electronics, which was organized in 1952 to provide a means of bringing together the relatively few electronic engineers who were interested in applying their knowledge to the problems of measurment and treatment in modern medical research and practice. The programs of some technical sessions at national conventions and other conferences from 1952 to 1955 are given. (Reprint of article from IRE Proceedings, Nov. 1959).<>
