Abstract :
The paper describes the development of the power supply system of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation as the railway system was extended through three stages. The means of maintaining a reliable power supply to critical loads is discussed. The paper discusses the selection of plant and equipment to meet the particular requirements of railway system reliability and underground location in Hong Kong.
