Abstract
The interplay of dispersive and nonlinear chirping is the basic mechanism for the determination of the pulse and spectral shape in harmonically mode locked erbium-doped fibre lasers. A theoretical analysis and an experimental verification show the transition from chirped Gaussian to transform-limited soliton pulse generation.
