Abstract :
This paper derives compact models of cable feeders with insulated and uninsulated metallic sheaths/screens for practical grounding system analysis. These models make it possible to determine the equivalent admittance to ground of a cable feeder as viewed from the source substation, the potentials transferred to the consumer substations through cable sheaths/screens, and to assess the touch- and step-voltages at consumer substations caused by this potential. The application of the suggested approach is demonstrated for a branching feeder in case of both types of cables, for comparison.
