Abstract :
An asymptotic sequence of finite network approximations is obtained for the characteristic impedance at high frequencies of transmission line with constant series resistance. The model is relevant to the design of oscilloscope passive attenuator probes with nanosecond response time using low-capacitance cable with fine-resistance-wire centre conductor.
