Abstract :
A fast numerical algorithm is presented for recompressing signals propagated over different path lengths in a dispersive duct. It is shown that an appropriate distortion of a signal spectrum recompresses dispersed arrivals regardless of their arrival times. The method is applied to the preprocessing of seismic data acquired in an underground pulse-echo location system for imaging faults in coal seams.
