Abstract :
The letter discusses the optimisation of a 3-level quantiser/coder used for an incoherent receiver which detects a constant c.w. signal in narrowband Gaussian noise. Criteria of optimality utilised in this investigation are based on the efficacy, the divergence and Bhattacharyya distance.
