Abstract :
In July 1983 a new UK electrical noise standard for the band 8.2¿¿12.4 GHz was brought into service. The paper describes the physical, thermal and electrical design as well as the methods used to evaluate the device. The results of measurements on a noise tube using the new standard are given and the implications discussed.
