Abstract :
Two multicoupled multimode fibres can act either as an encoder or as its matched-filter decoder, depending on which terminals are used. Such a network which may find applications in communications and microwave systems has been demonstrated using fused T couplers, fibre connectors, and multimode optical-fibre delay lines.
