Abstract :
Membrane waves are excited in thin, stretched polycarbonate foils. Waves up to hundreds of kilohertz are easily excited with single strip electrostatic excitation. The waves are trapped in the film, exhibit a low loss and their propagation velocity can be varied by changing the applied tension.
