Abstract
A spread-spectrum communication system using binary p.s.k. modulation often applies m-sequences as sub-baud codes for bandwidth expansion. In this situation one tries to minimise the probability of false synchronisation and prevent multipath distortion choosing sequences with suitable nonperiodic autocorrelation functions. Formulas for bounding the autocorrelation parameters are discussed. The letter also presents a table of `worst¿ and `best¿ m-sequences of period 15¿1023.
