Abstract :
A theory of learning in the brain is described in terms of neuron types and their organization in cortical association areas. It is shown mathematically and by computer simulation that learning behaviour can be produced by minute changes in synaptic transmission strength or weighting. Many feedback paths are involved and there is overall negative feedback through the thalamic reticular system.
