Abstract :
The paper considers the way we normally perceive the physical world and the bearing this has on our belief structure and our approach to empirical scientific knowledge. The serious limitations of our Western paradigm are reviewed in the light of particle physics and psychical research. The engineering importance and the general impact on our lives of recent evidence, possibly leading to important changes in the paradigm, are mentioned.
