Abstract :
A new method for removing the refractive-index dip in a c.v.d.-fabricated fibre has been developed. The method gives reproducible results, and might be of practical interest in the production of optical fibres. The method can be applied for the fabrication of fibres with different dip diameters for experimental testing of theories.
