Abstract :
The problem of theoretically determining the electrostatic fringing capacitance of a coaxial line which is terminated in an infinite, dielectric loaded ground plane has been reexamined. It is shown that the dependence of the fringing capacitance on the permittivity of the load is essentially nonlinear and may be modelled using a power series which arises naturally from the supporting mathematical description. The model can be employed in support of permittivity studies at low frequencies, where, for practical line sizes, the static capacitance will suffice.
