Abstract
The author discusses the features needed for what might be called distributed design, a concept that must take hold before significant integrated manufacturing activities can occur. In addition to discussing hardware and software technologies, he reviews current market forces and investigates the key elements that may enable graphics workstations to contribute this design concept.
