Abstract
The image compression possibilities of the BDPCM (blurred differential pulse code modulation) technique, which reduces information and increases correlation with signal blurring , are shown. Under the same quantization steps, signal flow at the coder is analyzed and complete signal reconstruction properties are shown. The dynamic range of the difference values of BDPCM is analyzed with the same quantization steps as conventional DPCM. In order to improve the median filter that reduces impulse noise with blurring, adaptive filtering for the differences is proposed. By means of the difference range, transmission impulse noises are detected and corrected by the filter. Therefore, a low-bit-rate image codec with noise elimination is proposed
