Abstract :
A single chip that decompresses the ATRAC (adaptive transform acoustic coding) used for mini disc has been developed. The authors outline how the low power consumption and high-precision calculation capability of this LSI were achieved. This LSI was developed by making an ideal compromise between lower power consumption and efficient high-precision calculation. Calculation precision has been enhanced due to 24-bit block-floating-point calculation, a customized calculation unit, and an error concealment function
