Abstract :
A front-end for a traffic information receiver for a road/automobile communication system has been developed. this front-end can combat fast fading and consumes lower power than other technologies. Good characteristics under fast fading have been obtained by employing demodulation techniques, i.e. FGCA (fast gain control amplifier) and a logarithmic amplifier. The front-end operates at 5 V and power dissipation of 1.0 W is realized. A high sensitivity of -95 dBm is realized. A local leakage of less than -50 dBm is obtained, along with a compactness of 70 cm3
