Abstract :
Spectral loss characteristics of GeO2-P2O5-doped silica graded-index fibres were investigated in the long-wavelength band. A broad absorption loss, increasing in proportion to the OH-ion concentration, was observed in the vicinity of 1.60 ¿m wavelength.
