Abstract :
Microwave radiation may be an alternate means of measuring the organic content of oil shales such as those found in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. Preliminary results show a strong correlation between the dissipation of microwave energy in shale and its organic richness in the frequency range investigated (0.3 to 1.0 GHz).
