  • Abstract
The LAPACK project, an effort to produce a numerical linear algebra library that runs efficiently on shared-memory vector and parallel processors, is discussed. A description is given of what was done to achieve performance, and results are given for various computers. Future directions for research on parallel computers are also discussed
