  • Abstract
We present a model that allows the theoretical description of three-dimensional particle movement of magnetically susceptible particles in a continuously operating two-wire high-gradient repulsive-mode magnetic separator (RMMS) under laminar flow conditions. From the calculated trajectories, separation efficiencies can be determined by a statistical approach. We compare the model to experiments on a lab-type RMMS and synthetic magnetite in water.
