Abstract
Two two-dimensional (2-D) finite-element techniques for the analysis of the electromechanical dynamics in electrical devices are presented and compared. The techniques are based on a hybrid finite-element method/boundary-element method (FEM/BEM) formulation and on an FEM approach with overlapping meshes, respectively. The merits and drawbacks of the two approaches are discussed when applied to the analysis of electromechanical devices under different operating conditions.
