Abstract :
A mathematical model and design methodology have been developed to simulate the brushless dc motor using finite element analysis software. The analysis is based on the characterization and measurement of magnetization patterns of bonded isotropic permanent magnets. This paper presents the derived mathematical model, the finite element simulation, the validation of the model, and the methodology used to correlate the simulated results and actual performance measurements.
