Abstract :
The surface reactance of a corrugated plane illuminated by a plane wave is determined using a rigorous solution. This result is used to establish the range of validity of the usual approximate solution. The dependence of the surface reactance on slot period, depth and width, and the angle of the incident wave, is discussed.
