Abstract
In this paper, we discuss in general the numerical problem of the identification of the Preisach function in the Modified Scalar Preisach Model (MSPM) for soft materials. We show that the solution of the inverse problem using a bilinear algebraic system approach can introduce numerical instabilities when operating with measured data: these instabilities can be avoided, or greatly reduced, using a recursive technique explained in the paper, or alternately a complete two-dimensional inversion procedure. We show the results obtained for laminated magnetic steels, and in particular the shape of the product functions and the Preisach probability functions computed.
