Abstract :
Wavelength conversion of 5-10 Gbit/s data channels is demonstrated by use of a DFB laser. A penalty free wavelength shift of 5 nm is obtained for data rates up to 8 Gbit/s. The coupled optical input power is -1 dBm and converted output power is 15 dBm at the facet.
