Abstract
The Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institutes´s (SEI´s) five-level framework for engineering practices in a successful software development organization and the International Organization for Standardization´s ISO 9000 series of standards, which describes the key requirements for companies and organizations doing business in the European Community, are reviewed. The origins of the models are discussed, and the two models are compared and contrasted
