Abstract :
An analytical method for calculating error rates for duobinary FM systems with discriminator detection and Viterbi sequence estimation decoding is presented. Gaussian noise and intersymbol interference are included in the channel model, and high signal-to-noise ratio and precoding of the binary input message are assumed in the analysis. The computed error rates are compared to previously published measurements. The agreement is very good, confirming that the assumptions are valid and useful
