Abstract
In order to improve the knowledge of the physical phenomena involved in the transient radiation of an UWB antenna, this series of two letters proposes a modeling tool of antenna geometries based on traveling-wire elements; infinitely and loaded elements are considered. In Part I of this letter, the theoretical aspects have been presented including an extension of previous modeling. The studies focus on the modeling of two-dimensional (2-D) combinations of straight thin-wires to constitute a V-antenna, a bow-tie or a butterfly antenna. A user-friendly graphical software has been developed to perform several parametric studies that highlight the major physical phenomena associated with the radiation in the far-field region. Samples of simulation results are presented and analyzed in Part II of this contribution.
