Abstract
The Magnetostatic-surface-wave (MSSW) excitation characteristics of a meander-line transducer are investigated. Significant improvement in excitation over a single-element transducer is predicted at and in the vicinity of frequencies at which the meander-line period is an odd integral multiple of the MSSW wavelength. This behavior, expected of a periodic structure, is found to extend to short meander-line transducers comprised of only a few fingers.
