Abstract :
An adaptive pel location coding scheme is proposed for document encoding. Operating in one or two dimensions, it achieves high compression ratios at the expense of slight image degradation. Comparison with autoadaptive block coding, run-length coding using the B1 code, and modified Huffman coding are presented.
