Abstract :
A simple CAD model for avalanche photodetectors (APD) is developed. The model is based on a piecewise linear (PWL) approximation of the responsivity curve of the APD which may be obtained either from theoretical considerations or from terminal measurements. The model takes into account nonlinear effects in the design of APD optical receivers.
