Abstract :
The letter proposes an alternative technique for the burst (ping-pong) transmission systems currently being studied for the digital reticulation of subscriber telephone services. Its main feature is the interleaving of transmit and receive bursts to permit the use of lower burst bit rates for a given transmission distance.
