Abstract :
The purpose of this work is to improve the method by which a computer responds to numerical error in a general-purpose program for solving linear equations. In order to avoid the usual "interrupt" response, a digital version of "conservation of power" will be imposed. Conservation of power can be imposed by a simple iteration similar to the one proposed by Golub to improve the accuracy of his least squares algorithm. This iterative approach would refine the computer\´s response to serious error without degrading computational efficiency.
