Editorial - Selected papers from NPL´s Optical Fibre Measurement Conference (OFMC) 2007

Welcome to this special issue of IET Optoelectronics, the second containing a selection of papers developed from presentations originally given at OFMC. OFMC is a biennial European based conference devoted to the subject of measurements for optical fibres and optoelectronics. The work reported in this issue is drawn from the 8th in the series, OFMC 2007, held at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Teddington UK. Since its inception in 1991 the series of Optical Fibre Measurement Conferences has provided a key forum for disseminating and discussing the results of recent measurement research, thus stimulating further progress in the field.
