Abstract :
An approximate equation for the computation of scan blindness in the E-plane of a printed phased array is given. The scan blindness occurs before the onset of the grating lobe, requiring the recalculation of the element spacing to keep the scan blindness out of the required scanned area. As an example, the case of an infinite array of printed radiators designed for a maximum scan angle of 30° in the E-plane and a maximum scan angle of 45° in the H-plane is considered
