Abstract :
This paper deals with the adaptation of IEC standards in electrical plants in Brazil. The Brazilian Technical Standards Association (ABNT) adopted the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) basis and changed the Brazilian electrical installations. This article will describe how these changes impacted the Brazilian oil and gas sectors, focusing on the area classification study, the installation design, the trade of electrical and electronic equipment for use in hazardous locations and training necessities.
